Scary

Now, in my time I have known a few people who like Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They have founded fan groups, written fan fiction, gone to conventions, dressed up as characters, had weekly viewing parties, bought too much memorabilia from eBay, hung autographed photos over their bed, even gotten multiple tattoos. This is all perfectly normal and healthy behavior. It should be encouraged. But a girl at work has just called her first-born child Buffy. I am not kidding. That is too much. At least it was a girl.

Naming a child Buffy is crossing a line. I mean, isn't there sufficient mockage of Buffy's name during the show to deter people from doing that?

"Whereas the name Buffy gives it that touch of classic elegance..."

Wow....I think the kid would have a lot to live up to. I mean, if she doesn't start slaying vampires when she is 15 then obviously she won't have lived up to the name....Poor kid.

And I wonder who the freak was who got Buffy tattoos.....Wait, hang on a sec.....DOH! ;)

Indeed. I just hope she doesn't call the next one Dawn.

I knew a girl called Buffy way back in high school. That was all pre the series too. Apparently it was a pretty common british nickname/Name at one time and her mum used to read all the classics. I wonder if she still goes by it today.

Apparently it's a nickname for Elizabeth, so maybe she goes by that now...
